Visual Deceit

Tuesday we went for our nightly stroll, usually we just walk over to the Daybreak Lake and then head back. After watching Biggest Loser, I felt a lot more motivated and since I can’t run anymore, (UGH) I suggested we walk to the South Jordan Temple. It didn’t LOOK that far from where we live. We started our trek and about a mile into it, we were still pretty far away. Ray asked if I wanted to turn around, but I felt pretty energized.

FINALLY 2.1 miles later, we made it to the temple grounds. The gates were open and so we thought we’d stroll up to the fountain and take our rest before heading back. While sitting there, the security guard came out, I thought he was going to kick us out, but he came and chatted for a bit and told us to enjoy ourselves.  It was so peaceful and quiet.  Well, about 5 minutes later, the security guard came back out and asked us if we wanted to come inside, he told us he couldn’t take us far but we could come in.  We walked into the lobby waiting room area and it was so perfect. Everything was new and crisp and the smell of new furnishings and paint. The security guard was explaining some of the symbols in the room to us and was just the nicest man ever.

On one side they had a HUGE picture of Jesus and as I was walking to admire the painting, I passed a large mirror! I started laughing so hard and thought, ok, I should NOT be walking around inside of the temple. I had a windblown face, my hair was a rats nest, I had one of Ray’s 5x sweatshirts on and his basketball shorts that went down to my shins… I bet the security guard thought, oh, let this homeless pregnant women in for some warmth!  As I walked over to the Jesus picture, I thought: I AM A CHILD OF GOD AND HE LOVES ME! Hahahaha

4.2 miles, and 2 hours later we made it home!
