I was sitting on the couch and my Mom was in the laundry room.
Toa was in the toy room just playing and then I heard my Mom say "Oh my gosh, no Toa, give to Nanny"
I thought Toa might have grabbed some cleaner or something and I asked what happened and my mom said "I think Toa killed Emmett"
Emmett is my Mom's baby bird! We have had Emmett for almost 20 years and my Mom raised him from the day he was hatched and bottle fed him, everything!
My heart dropped and I got so sick to my stomach, I ran down the hall and grabbed Toa and my poor mom was trying to do little CPR on her baby.. it was seriously the saddest thing ever. Emmett was still breathing, but we think Toa broke his neck. My mom said when Toa walked out of the toy room he was holding Emmett so proudly like "I caught him Nan" and grinning so happily.
I was SO upset! I feel horrible because I was SO upset with Toa! My mom worked on Emmett for a good 15 minutes and then he just passed :( I felt so horrible and guilty and my Mom was so calm.. I am an emotional roller coaster as it is and the flood gates just opened and I was bawling my face off..
It wasn't until my nieces came over about half hour later, and they helped my Mom bury poor Emmett outside the kitchen window under the hummingbird feeders. That's when my Mom cried pretty hard.. yes, it's only a bird, but it was our family bird and we've had him for so long and the way he died was just horrible..
My poor son doesn't know his own strength.. I didn't think he would pick up the bird. Usually if we are holding Emmett he will just come by and stare at him, but never try to touch him.

Omgoodness!! Im all teary eyed!! Poor Emmette! If Toa knew any better he never would have loved him sooo much! It's okay... Rest in Peace birdy.
:(*Awww, I feel for your mama and the rest of ur family..I know how attached we can get w/an animal..I'm in the same boat.Poor Toa,ur such a tough lil happy guy,u didn't know?:(
