First thing, you have to come up with a name for your ELF. Since Toa won't be talking anytime soon, we decided to name it. However, any name wouldn't suffice. I found the Christmas Elf Name website and you enter your name and it generates your own elf name. I entered Toa Feinga and it came up with Goofy Sugar-Socks. Since Feinga is Sugar Socks, we decided to name our family ELF "Sugar Socks" :)
Now, the story behind the family elf tradition is, once your elf comes to your house (usually right after Thanksgiving) he sits somewhere in your home (the children aren't allowed to touch him and if they do the Elf loses all his magic and he can't fly) and he watches over the kids during the day and then returns to the North Pole every night to report to Santa Claus how the children behaved and the next morning he is sitting in a new spot and the children have to run around the house and look for him. Then after Christmas he leaves to the North Pole again until the next year.
My nieces have had their elf, "Rubby" for a few years now and we are so excited to have "Sugar Socks" as part of our family........
Welcome Sugar Socks Feinga

That is soooo cute sis:) I think I'm gonna have to steal that tradition for my lil monsters. Maybe this will give them a lil incentive to be good boys lol. Where can I find me a Elf on the Shelf??? Love it
Sis, the elves just show up from the North Pole! hahahahahaha
My Uncle sells them at his nursery down in Nephi. I'll see if he has one for you to get. :) It's such a fun tradition. My nieces LOVE their Rubby. How about Sugar Socks was sitting in the Christmas tree this morning and my mom had to move him because she was fixing the lights at the top and Karmen had slept over and saw that Sugar Socks had moved into the tree and when they came over tonight for dinner, he was sitting on the fireplace mantle and they freaked out because someone had touched Sugar Socks.. but my Mom reassured them that she had moved him with a stick and didn't touch him so he wouldnt lose his magic.. and I told them Santa would understand we had to move him for "safety" reasons and wouldnt take his magic away because Toa didnt touch him! lol.. hoi, it's WORK! :)
i am IN LOVE with this idea!!! that is TOO CUTE!! I'm gonna look around for an elf too. and what's the name of your uncle's place in nephi? maybe I can convinv my dad or hubby to check it out when they are passing thru... lol

I just ordered mine online...thanks for the idea!
ANDDD my ovaries hurt. I would LOVE to have one. I would love to have a baby. But no. Kory is a butthead who just has to wait and wait and wait and drag out the inevitable. So... I'll just have to wait and wait til I can have an elf in my house. Me? No, I'm not bitter...why do you ask?
