With the economy the way it is, I tell ya, saving money on SOMETHING is a plus. Saving money on neccessities is even better!!! I've never been a believer on coupon clipping until now. I have saved soooo much money in just a few shopping trips it's actually rather exciting to go to the store now. You have to start getting your coupons in the Sunday paper and then watch for the ads that will take place the following week, you then take your coupons, with the help of the sale items and the perks of either a fresh value card (Smith's) or preferred customer card (Alberston's) you can get items for so cheap or even sometimes, FREE...
The first time I went, I saved a little over $60.00 and got close to $80.00 worth of stuff- I was a little nervous when I went to check out, like I was doing something wrong.. haha, but when the nice lady said "You did good girl" I walked away with an extra $60.00 in my pocket. I called Ray as soon as I left the store like I won the lottery or something. I was PROUD! :)
Last week there were some great sales as well, so I loaded up on my coupons on the items I wanted and planned out my grocery list and it took me all but 20 minutes to get all my stuff... I spent $27 for $83 worth of groceries. Here is what I got....
2 packs of Fiber One Yogurt, 6 boxes of Hamburger Helper, 4 boxes of Betty Crocker potatoes, 2 packages of Betty Crocker cookie mixes, 2 Warm Delights, 4 packages of cookie dough, 2 crescent roll packages, 2 orange roll packages, 2 boxes of muffin mix, 2 things of buttermilk buscuits all for $27 with a total savings of around $55.00! It replenishes our food storage and heck, you can get 4 things for the price of one or cheaper!!! I wish I would've jumped on this band wagon a while ago, but I'm definitely enjoying it now and I love being able to do this with my sisters and my Mom!
Now, if only we could figure out a way to do this with gas!!!!!
